Chandler Johnson has been volunteering at the Mid-Manhattan Library located at 40th St. and Fifth Ave. for about nine years. Chandler is currently volunteering at 53rd Street Library twice weekly since the beginning of this year.
When Chandler was interviewed for the volunteer position, he took a test about numbers and questions related to the books, etc. He passed the test and also had a verbal interview with the Manager of Volunteer Programs at the Library.
Chandler is a very hard worker at the library. He is good at following instructions and performs tasks that are an important part of the daily operation of the branch. Chandler shelves and edges books, DVDs and CDs. He also pulls the reserves list off the shelves and checks them in by using the computer for transport to other library branches. Chandler is able to perform his tasks with little supervision from staff. He is well regarded by other staff at the Library.
Every year Chandler is invited to the “Volunteer Day Recognition” located at Manhattan Library at 42nd St. and Fifth Ave where Chandler likes talking to familiar faces and likes to be introduced by his full name “Chandler Johnson.”
