The Self-Advocacy Association of New York State, Inc. (SANYS) honored Melissa Hanna for her many accomplishments as a Direct Support Professional. Melissa was selected as the “2021 New York State Direct Support Professional Of the Year”.
Melissa works within the Community Habilitation Department supporting several individuals in the community as well as virtually. Melissa is a committed member of The Strong Island Voices, a CFS Long Island based advocacy group. When COVID hit, Melissa started her own virtual groups to spread support amongst the whole agency. She continues running several groups on Zoom including: Poetry Club, Art Exploration, and Movie Trivia.
Melissa’s care for others and dedication to the field is unmatched. Melissa is an integral part of the CFS family. A big Congratulations to Melissa on this OUTSTANDING achievement!
